Crafty Fox Market Hits the Brixton Dogstar Again

One of those salmon-coloured camera postcards went home with me…oops

After a few hours’ house-hunting today (which involved visiting all five of Herne Hill’s real estate agents only to stare at pamphlets and make viewing appointments for the coming weeks, and then hunting them down on the street only to stand outside for 15 minutes looking all-suspicious-like), we wandered down the road to the Dogstar pub in Brixton.

Now, given that Jim used to DJ here back in the day — and many of our good friends used to work here, from Phil who managed it, to Tash who pulled pints — I hadn’t actually been in there before. I was pretty bowled over by how shabby chic and falling-to-bits luxe it was, so it came as no surprise that the Etsy-sponsored Crafty Fox market had popped-up for the day.

There were a few designers selling their (gorgeous) wares there who I recognised — either from other handmade markets, or from some of the stock we carry at The Make Lounge, but plenty more I’d not clapped eyes on. From stationery (my favourite!) to screen-printed fabric goodies to vintage clothes to vegan cupcakes, it was chock-a-block with plenty of pretties. As I (wisely) had just £10 on me, I spent it carefully on a vegan cupcake and a few greeting cards and postcards. I just can’t get enough of paper paraphernalia!

Check out more of my photos from the day below the jump, or see the full collection on my Flickr account.

Couldn’t help but buy a birdy greeting card. For the collection, you understand…

I just adored that deer on the left. Adeered it, I did!

I’m so pleased to hear you bought that deer Naomi and gave him a nice new home — I fell in love with him; such a sweet little thing he was!

Hopefully I’ll see you at the next one, Suzanne! It’s such a great market, and so good for Brixton spirit.
